Ula, A Handmade, Ethical and Environmental Necklace .
We lovingly hand make each environmental necklace using natural and recycled materials. Collected from our beaches and waterways, marine debris including a plastic bottle top and marine rope are key components in Ula’s makeup.
Recycled Ula, An Environmental Necklace With A Message.
Hand collected and cleaned marine rope forms Ula’s cord and also provides the foundation for this unusual piece of ethical and wearable art.
Attached to this is a red bottle top which frames and also contrasts with her tangled fishing line hair. Caught up in this jumble of tangled hair is a small, rusty part of a fishing swivel.
Her face has been moulded from polymer clay and nestles neatly inside her red bottle top frame.
She is a lightweight and durable piece which won’t scratch or itch but may lightly tickle you with her fishing line.
A message from Ula
My name is Ula.
My name is Celtic for ” Sea Jewel”.
Are you wondering why my name is based on a Celtic sea theme, while I’m made from a red bottle top?
Here’s the connection! Bottle tops are a key plastic found along the Australian coastline, and especially cause serious environmental problems for our marine life.
My role is to prompt conversations and also raise awareness about the dangers of simply dropping rubbish overboard or into our waterways.
How you choose to use me is up to you. Whether you wear me as a one-off piece or as a vehicle to promote a message about caring for our planet, I know we’ll enjoy each other’s company.
Do you have a query or question?
