Hello. My name is Aerwyna, pronounced ” Air-win-a”.
My name means ” friend of the sea”, becasue I depict an underwater scene.
I come with an environmental message however, and because of that, I’ve been made from marine debris and plastics, including gill net, micro plastics, fishing and caste netting and even bits of discarded fishing line.
My mission is to show people, in a creative way, the dangers of plastics and to prompt ways to recycle.
In other words – I’ve been made from peoples trash into a unique, one off fashion accessory.
Would you dare to be different enough to wear me? Or are you…..
Too busy to do as much recycling as you’d like?
The solution is right here with me.
Just by wearing me, you can pass on the message of recycling and the dangers of plastic. Working together, we can prompt some amazing conversations when people comment on your unusual necklace.
Worried that I may be scratchy to wear?
Don’t be. All you’ll get when wearing me is the odd tickle.
Jo has made me to be a sturdy, lightweight and comfortable necklace.
When you purchase me, my full story comes with me, so you can learn a bit more about me.
Meet Aerwyna, An Ethical And Hand Made Marine Necklace.
We have hand made this ethical and hand made marine necklace using recycled man made materials, especially discarded netting and fishing line. Marine debris, including discarded gill netting, as well as fishing net and microplastics, are key components in Aerwyna’s makeup, all of which has been collected from our beaches and waterways.
Hand made Aerwyna. Prounced as ” Air-win-a”.
Hand made from discarded fishing twine, fishing line and even the odd fishing swivel, Aerwyna represents an underwater scene.
Aerwyna is a dainty and lightweight piece that won’t scratch or itch but simply tickles you with her fishing line. Made to be sturdy, her feature pieces have, in addition, all been hand stitched into place.
She doesn’t scratch at all as she has been carefully hand made to be comfortable and lightweight to wear.
A message from Aerwyna
Hello,
My name is Aerwyna [ Air-win-a].
Jo chose this name for me because it means “Friend of the sea.”
I’ve been hand made using debris collected off beaches along the Sunshine Coast, including pieces of gill and caste net, fishing line and twine, microplastics, and small plastic fishing beads. I also have one small metal fishing swivel as well.
The base cord I am made from, and what everything else is stitched or woven around, is also made from recycled and braided fishing line.
My centre piece features a bio resin face, which has small pieces of caste netting and plastics embedded in her. The blue dye and her tangle of fishing twine hair reminds Jo of seaweed among a blue ocean. All this seems to rest in a sea of tangled net and fishing line.
Nestled below this is a sea star and a scattering of green fishing beads which all rest among more tangled and frayed gill and caste net. A small reclaimed fishing swivel seems to be tangled up in the fishing twine hair, adding some weight and contrast to my whole piece.
The rest of my story comes with me when you purchase me.
