Ethical Brooch From Re Purposed Plastic Waste
This ethical brooch from re purposed plastic waste, has been hand crafted from marine plastics collected off beaches.
Recycled hard plastics have gone into hand making this one off brooch as a way of raising awareness about plastic pollution.
Collected off our beaches, marine debris, including these three pieces of hard plastics were all used in making this ethical jewelry.
What Is This Ethical Brooch Made From?
We have deliberately used marine debris, in this case, pieces of hard plastics to craft this statement jewelry brooch. Washed up on our beaches, each piece of marine debris we use has been hand collected, cleaned and then arranged to create this unique one off piece. Each piece of plastic we use, therefore, shows the wear and tear of being tumbled around in the ocean.
All of the plastics we collect are at different stages of deterioration and wear and are therefore prone to showing stains, marks, splits or cracks. This makes it challenging to work with and also keep the plastics from breaking down further.
Why Do You Make Brooches from Man-made Marine Debris?
Deliberately used in making this one off brooch are materials which threaten our environment. We make each piece of our jewelry in a creative way to act as a vehicle for carrying a message as well as prompting awareness. Using pieces of plastic without disguising or changing them enables us furthermore to showcase our message.
Raising awareness of the impact of plastics on our environment is above all why we use these materials the way we do.
