My name is Lopi and I have been hand made using recycled marine debris including recycled fishing line, marine rope, which forms my base, and a selection of fishing tackle and netting. I also have small plastic seed beads hand stitched into me.
My name comes from the family name for thresher sharks -Alopias vulpinus, which according to the World Conservation Union, are vulnerable to extinction.
My mission is to help you raise awareness about the issues both we and our environment face with synthetic, man made wastes in our seas, oceans and waterways.
Jo hand made me using a range of repurposed materials in shades of pale blue and green.
All the tangled and frayed nylon rope knots, marine rope and seed beads have been carefully hand stitched into place using more recycled fishing line.
I really am a sustainable and innovative necklace from marine debris that also carries an eco message.
Looking for a unique piece of jewellery that combines an environmental message while also being a one off fashion statement?
I’m here to help.
By simply wearing me, you’ll find yourself doing just that while you go about your busy day! You’ll be surprised how people will notice and comment about your necklace. All you have to do is tell them my story.
It’s that simple.
Worried that I may be scratchy to wear?
Don’t be. All you’ll get when wearing me is the odd tickle from the tangle of fishing line. The pale blue / green recycled rope that forms my base is soft and easy to wear.
Jo has made me to be a sturdy, lightweight and comfortable necklace.
We handmade this quirky and environmental necklace from recycled marine debris, including not only a selection of knotted nylon marine rope but also frayed fishing net. Along with a reclaimed fishing lure, beads and a tangle of cast netting, Lopi also sports a bio resin pendant. Collected from our beaches and waterways, the marine debris we use is also deliberately intended to carry an eco message.

I’ve been hand made using debris collected off beaches along the Sunshine Coast, including bits of tangled and frayed fishing and cast netting, knotted and frayed pieces of nylon rope and also a recycled fishing lure and seed beads.

My center piece also features a bio resin pendant that hangs below the fishing lure, which Jo has made, using a cluster of rusted and discarded fishing swivels.
