Hello. I’m A Sustainable And Innovative Necklace From Marine Debris
My name is Meredith and I have been hand made using bio resin and recycled marine debris including recycled fishing net, hard plastics and, of course, marine rope, which forms my base.
My name is Celtic for ” Protector of the sea“.
My mission is to help you raise awareness about the issues both we and our environment face with synthetic, man made wastes in our seas, oceans and waterways.
Jo hand made me using a range of repurposed materials in shades of orange, white and pale cream.
All the caste netting, tangled fishing string, bio resin face and star fish have all been carefully hand stitched into place using more recycled fishing line.
My face and star fish were hand made by Jo using a selection of micro plastics and cast netting cleared off local beaches and set in bio resin. A scattering of tiny seed beads and a single crystal add an extra luxurious touch too.
I really am a sustainable and innovative necklace from marine debris that also carries an eco message.
Looking for a unique piece of jewellery that combines an environmental message while also being a one off fashion statement?
I’m here to help.
By simply wearing me, you’ll find yourself doing just that while you go about your busy day! You’ll be surprised how people will notice and comment about your necklace. All you have to do is tell them my story.
It’s that simple.
Worried that I may be scratchy to wear?
Don’t be. All you’ll get when wearing me is the odd tickle from the tangle of fishing line. The white recycled rope that forms my base is incredibly soft and pliable.
Jo has made me to be a sturdy, lightweight and comfortable necklace.

Hello,
My name is Meredith.
My name is Celtic for ” Protector of the sea.”.
I’ve been hand made using debris collected off beaches along the Sunshine Coast, including bits of gill net, fishing line, fishing twine, cast netting and also micro plastics.
My base cord is soft and pliable recycled marine rope with everything else subsequently stitched or woven around it. Being slightly frayed and stained from time in the ocean, it additionally adds to the significance of my story.
My centre piece features a bio resin mermaid, which Jo handmade and moreover embedded micro plastics in as a statement about the impact of plastics on marine life. The mermaid is also nestling in her hair of tangled fishing twine and gill netting.
Tangled and frayed gill net and reclaimed fishing line have also been hand stitched to my marine rope. This adds to the scene of tangled man-made waste.
A few small seed beads and a crystal bead also sit among the tangle of marine debris as a luxurious touch to my tangle of waste.
I am totally hand made. There isn’t another necklace like me, so be reassured that when you wear me, you are truly making a fashion statement.
Jo has made me to be light weight and sturdy, so that I am both a fashion statement and an environmental statement.
