Our bangles are designed to showcase and raise awareness about man made synthetic wastes in our oceans, seas and waterways.
This particular piece features pieces of hard white plastic which has been cleared off local beaches or out of waterways.
Added into this bangle are swirls of blue translucent dye dye, along with tiny flakes of gold leaf.
By creatively recycling marine plastics [ in this case, pieces of hard plastic] in a way that is both fun and fashionable, we aim to draw attention to the impact of our use of plastics.
A Hand Made, One Off Piece.
Each bangle we craft is a hand made and one off piece of wearable art. This particular piece features pieces of fishing net, soft plastic fishing lures and pieces of hard plastic.
Using a bio resin, we aim to be as environmentally conscious as possible when making jewellery with resin.
Each piece incorporates and features man made marine debris which is collected, cleaned and sorted by hand – a time consuming and dirty process. We then go through several stages to hand craft each piece, from arranging the inclusions with thought, to pouring resin into the molds over several phases.
In the case of this bangle, you can see that we have completed 3 separate pours, by the lines where dye and resin have collected.
We can confidently say this unique bangle has been made with love and care.
We hand made this sustainable bangle from marine debris using pieces of white hard plastic embedded in bio resin. Collected off local beaches, the pieces of hard plastic rest within swirls of blue translucent dye. Added into this mix are flakes of gold leaf which seem to float through the sea blue resin.
We did, however, deliberately keep parts of the resin clear in places to showcase the pieces of white plastic.
A Sustainable Bangle With An Eco Message.
Incorporating hard plastic pieces from local beaches as well as our waterways, this delightful bangle showcases man made waste in our oceans and seas.
Hand collected by both volunteers and recreational dive groups, the plastic and man made waste has been featured as a deliberate environmental statement.
Did you know? 8 million tons of plastic goes into our oceans, waterways and also our beaches every year? Here are a few facts about these plastic wastes
Care Of Your Bangle.
Resin does gradually yellow with time due to exposure to UV. With this in mind, we suggest storing it away from light when not being worn.
To clean your bangle, simply wipe it over with a soft cloth.
