Our bangles and bracelets are designed to showcase and raise awareness about man made synthetic wastes in our oceans, seas and waterways.
This bangle features a panel from a hand woven bag found washed up on the beach at Fraser Island [ K’Gari]. The bag is a traditionally hand woven piece from Papua New Guinea, and in this case, uses synthetic cord, which is plastic.
By creatively recycling marine plastics in a way that is both fun and fashionable, we aim to draw attention to the impact of our use of plastics.
A Hand Made, One Off Piece.
Each bangle we craft is a hand made and one off piece of wearable art.
Using bio resin, we aim to be as environmentally conscious as possible when making jewellery with resin.
Each piece incorporates and features man made marine debris which is collected, cleaned and sorted by hand – a time consuming and dirty process. We then go through several stages to hand craft each piece, from arranging the inclusions with thought, to pouring resin into the moulds over several phases.
We can confidently say this unique bangle has been made with love and care.
We have hand made this vegan bio resin cuff with woven fibre using a woven string bag cleared off the eastern side beach of Fraser Island [ K’Gari].
This woven string bag is a traditional hand woven bag from Papua New Guinea and is called a ” Bilum”. Somehow it found its way from Papua New Guinea to Fraser Island and is now a feature in this bangle.
Because we reuse plastics and man made debris in our jewellery, as a way to raise awareness about the plastics in our oceans, we couldn’t resist trying to reuse this bag as well.
The simple use of a panel from this bag aims to showcase that trash and rubbish from one country doesn’t stay there. Ocean currants and tides move our trash silently along the ocean floor.
A Vegan Bio Resin Cuff With Woven Fibre That Carries An Environmental Message.
Incorporating debris collected from our beaches, this vegan bio resin cuff showcases man made waste.
Hand collected by both volunteers and recreational dive groups, the man made waste has been featured as a deliberate environmental statement.
Did you know? 8 million tons of plastic goes into our oceans, waterways and also our beaches every year? Here are a few facts about these plastic wastes
Hand Made With Love
Because we hand make each of our bangles, you may find slight imperfections.
This may be due to an inclusion such as netting sitting close to the surface and creating slight ripples or waves in the surface of the resin.
It may be that the plastic reacts with the resin and causes slight clouding in spots.
There may even be a slight or small dimple caused by an air bubble.
We believe all these features show that each of our pieces is hand made and not produced in a factory or by machine. They also make each piece unique and quirky.
Care Of Your Ethical Bio Resin Cuff With A Rope Bow
Resin may gradually yellow with time due to exposure to UV. With this in mind, we suggest storing it away from light when not being worn. To clean your bangle, simply wipe it over with a soft cloth.
