Ever found that suddenly a whole month has passed and you don’t know where the time went?
October has been like that. I was asked by a close friend to help her out with the art and decoration for a new music and art festival, which I happily said ” Yes” to. Then 4 days later, I was approached to set up a stall in another new festival promoting street art, which I also said ” Yes” to. THEN realized, once I had committed myself, that I had to make some stock for the street art stall!! Meanwhile, I’d forgotten I was set to run a new 1 day workshop as well!!
Needless to say, October saw me pull off numerous late nights – crawled to bed at 12 or 1 in the morning, crawl out of bed at 6 am…. In the end, my body started to wear out and I ended up ill. That happens, I guess, when your body reaches 60 years of age, but your mind still thinks you’re 40!
Was it worth it? Most definitely!! Financially worth it- not really- but worth it in so many other ways. The feedback from my workshop was GOLD!! I learned what I was doing right, but also that I wasn’t quite meeting my target audience needs and why. The music and art festival was more about me giving my time and this looks like it’ll pay off in the long run, as I’ve met some amazing people and may have more work with them in the future. Did the street art festival pay off? Not financially, but again, I learned some valuable lessons.
Was October an interesting month? Most definitely, as it was a big learning month for me. I will always be open to learning as I think it’s one of the things that adds colour, variety and spice to life. Love learning, love life I say!
